Sebastian ~ Two Year Old Red Roan Quarter Horse Gelding
Description:
Sebastian is a light Red Roan Quarter horse gelding. He has a star and a snip and one white sock. He is approximately two years old and is still growing!
Background:
He was purchased at a livestock auction in Seguin, TX along with 5 other malnourished horses and two donkeys. Supposedly his sire is Deegan Tomcat, a foundation bred Quarter horse, but we do not have any registration papers. We cannot verify any lineage at this time.
Medical:
All of the horses arrived at their foster homes in very poor health and body condition. Sebastian came down with a severe upper respiratory infection. His recovery was slow, but he s currently doing very well and is steadily gaining weight.
Personality:
Sebastian is a very curious horse, with more skepticism than fear about new things. Obstacles are no big deal to him; he will walk over, through, or in to just about anything, including the garage and the our tiny feed shed! He will most likely make an excellent working ranch horse or pleasure trail riding horse.
He is haltered and learning to lead, load, accept petting all over, including his legs, and to stand tied. Loading into the trailer is easy for this guy!

Trixie ~ Black Yearling Filly Pony/Cross
Description:
Trixie is a black yearling pony, likely crossed with American Saddlebred, with a white star. She is super friendly! She is approximately 13hh and still growing.
Background:
Trixie came to us on January 5, 2008 along with her mom, Luna, who was still allowing her to suckle occasionally for comfort. (Luna is also available for adoption.) They were part of a large rescue of 26 horses and ponies in North Texas. The owner, a former American Saddlebred and Pony breeder, had had a stroke and as a consequence had gone blind. The horses were now more than he could deal with, so he decided to quit the business. All of the horses were basically in good physical shape when they were rescued.
UPDATE: July 2008 - In April, Trixie was haltered for the first time. Since then she has learned to lead, load, and stand tied. She continues to do well with her training.
Medical:
She is up to date on her vaccinations and has a Negative Coggins certificate.
Personality:
Though she is friendly, she is insecure and lacks confidence which comes across as being spooky. She is leary of anything behind the hip and tends to kick out when unsure.
Trixie halters easily, leads okay, loads fine, and ties. She hates the water hose, but has already shown improvement and she doesn’t really like to be groomed, but tolerates it.
Her front hooves can be handled and cleaned readily, but she is still working on allowing the backs to be handled. Trixie definitely needs work on ground manners, but she is still very young and seems to respond very well to training. She will definitely need time and training for respect before she can be considered "kid safe", but in the long run, she should make a very nice riding pony/cross.
The type of home best suited for Trixie would be one with a calm, patient, confident handler, who preferably has experience starting young horses.
She does well in a quiet pasture with at least one pasture mate, since she really enjoys to the company of others. She is submissive in the equine social pecking order. She’s very curious and friendly, but she needs to learn to trust her handler and gain more confidence; that should improve all her issues.

Luna ~ Four Year Old Black Pony Mare
Description:
Luna, as we call her, is a solid black pony mare with a tiny white s.tar on her forehead. She stands about 12hh and is four years old. She's a typical pony who is somewhat friendly, but definitely needs training & manners. While she has been haltered, she is still not considered halter broke yet. She is currently learning to lead, load, and stand tied.
Background:
Luna came to us on January 5, 2008 along with her daughter, Trixie, at her side. (Trixie is also available for adoption.) They were part of a large rescue of 26 horses and ponies in North Texas. The owner, a former American Saddlebred and Pony breeder, had had a stroke and as a consequence had gone blind. The horses were now more than he could deal with, so he decided to quit the business. All of the horses were basically in good physical shape when they were rescued.
Medical:
She is up to date on her vaccinations and has a Negative Coggins certificate.
Personality:
Though Luna can be friendly, she is definitely not trustworthy. She will whirl and kick both horses AND people if she thinks it will get her what she wants. Also, she seems to be an expert at "cow-kicking" as well. She will definitely need training for respect before she can be considered "kid safe".
